The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has joined with the Latin American Association of Research Centers and Telecommunication Enterprises in signing an Honorary and Friendship Agreement to promote further growth and development of the telecommunications industries of the United States and the world at large.
Through this friendship agreement, TIA and AHCIET (also known as the Asociación Iberoamericana de Centros de Investigación y Empresas de Telecomunicaciones or AHCIET) agree to engage in a variety of cooperative activities to promote growth within the telecommunications industries of their respective regions. These activities include regular information-sharing, visits between members of the two organizations, and ongoing efforts to produce harmonious standards and to pursue regulatory issues of common importance.
“TIA is very excited to work with AHCIET to further the development of the information and communication technology industry worldwide,” said TIA president Grant Seiffert. “Latin America is at the center of tremendous innovation and growth. According to TIA’s Market Review & Forecast, telecommunications spending in Latin America rose eight percent last year, and wireless penetration is expected to reach 118 percent by 2016. With this friendship agreement, we will support continued ICT growth in Latin America and beyond by sharing information and making sure our standards and interests align.”
