Microsoft Unveils Copilot for Security

Microsoft introduced its new Copilot for Security product. This release is designed to offer security “at the speed and scale of AI.”

In particular, Copilot for Security offers a generative AI (GenAI)-powered assistant to summarize data signals as key insights to detect and secure against cyberthreats before they cause harm, ultimately reinforcing cybersecurity posture. The release also offers critical guidance and context to respond to incidents, empower and advance junior staff and alleviate tedious tasks for senior staff, freeing them to focus on more strategic priorities.

Elements include:

  • Orchestrator – Determines initial context and builds a plan that uses all available skills.
  • Context Builder – Executes the plan to get the required data context to answer the prompt.
  • Plugins – Analyzes all data and patterns to provide intelligent insight.
  • Responding – Combines all data and context, with its model working out a response.
  • Response – Formats data.

Users can ask Copilot for Security questions in natural language, receiving actionable responses to common security and IT inquiries in seconds. The release also offers integration with Microsoft products such as the unified security operations platform, Sentinel, Defender XDR, Intune, Defender Threat Intelligence, Entra, Purview and Defender External Attack Surface Management.
